Tires no longer accepted at the Sechelt Landfill

Starting May 15, 2021, tires will no longer be accepted until the project is complete. This is to help with the space requirements of the project and to keep the site as operational as possible. Tires are accepted (off rim - no charge; on rim – fee applies) at tire retailers and auto mechanic shops throughout the Sunshine Coast. Visit www.tsbc.ca to confirm locations.

The initial few weeks of this work will be loud and the Sunshine Coast Regional District (SCRD) has been granted a noise bylaw exemption.

Propane, paint and cooking oil no longer accepted at landfill

Work is continuing at the Sechelt Landfill with machinery on-site - pounding and compacting concrete in and around the current drop-off area.


Due to this ongoing construction, starting this Saturday (May 29th) until July 1 - the following items will not be accepted at the Landfill.
  • Paint or other product care items
  • Propane tanks
  • Cooking oil
For these items, you can either hold them until July 1 or you can drop them off at other facilities.

Sechelt Landfill Closed

In order to complete the new drop-off area, the Sechelt Landfill will be closed from September 17 to 19 (September 20 is a regularly scheduled closure day). 

While the landfill is closed, residents can either hold onto their materials until the landfill reopens, or take them to the Pender Harbour Transfer Station during operating hours. Arrangements are being made to accept a limited amount of commercial garbage during the three day closure.
