We are pleased to announce that Sechelt Landfill is now operating in our new public drop off area. All our regular materials are being accepted. Thank you very much for your patience over the summer months during the construction. We look forward to welcoming you at the new site.

Tires are managed by the Tire Stewardship of BC. For large volumes we recommend reaching out to them at https://tsbc.ca/ to collect the tires directly.

We are temporarily not accepting paint because the drop off area is currently full. Once we have room, there is no fee to drop off, thanks to the program we host at our site, Product Care's recycling program for paint. If you aren't sure what is accepted please check this website. https://www.productcare.org/products/paint/british-columbia/.

Updated Oct 13: Due to delayed opening of the parts of the drop off area we are unable to accept paint for at least a few more days. Staff will update when a time is known.
Updated Oct 1: The landfill has to delay reopening and will resume accepting waste paint on October 12.
Previous reply: The landfill will resume accepting waste paint on October 5.

Yes, the Sechelt Landfill accepts the small green type propane cylinders that are smaller than 1lb for $2 per cylinder. Follow the site attendant's direction for where to place them as there is currently no set location.

Thank you for your inquiry. The chemicals you described are not accepted at any of the residential recycling locations on the Sunshine Coast. We advise reaching out a private hazardous waste company or contacting the Recycling Council of BC at 604-recycle or hotline@rcbc.ca for options.
