September 2025 - Construction Update

The contractor is expected to be onsite in November to work on the main dock area. A reminder that the work on the float is not occurring as part of this stage of the project. Further information on when the float replacement work will begin will be shared when available.

The projects is expected to be completed by the end of January 2026.


April 24, 2025 - Hopkins Landing Dock Project – Float Update

When the Hopkins Landing Dock was closed, the float was removed and placed into storage. Repairs were identified as part of the renovation project. Recently, upon closer inspection, it was discovered that the float was in significant disrepair and could not be reused. This replacement will require a separate design and construction contract and will not be completed alongside the main dock upgrades, which are expected to proceed in the early fall.

Background

Closed for safety, Hopkins Landing is now slated for renovation. A public engagement process took place in April through May, 2024. Construction is began in January 2025.

    Hi Paul,

    Thank you for your question. The after-hours work is only related to tasks that must be completed during low tide, specifically the structural connection work for the dock. We anticipate that this activity will be limited once that phase of the project is finished.

    Public notice was provided to residents through the SCRD website, and our team was onsite at the start of the project to address any questions from residents.

    Hello Jackie, a construction contract was awarded in late November of last year. Construction was to begin in January of this year, however it was postponed until August, 2025. This news release explains the reason for the delay.
