Gray Creek is located between Sandy Hook and Tuwanek, and will support the 21,000 residents and commercial customers on the Chapman Water system.
Why Gray Creek?
- Gray Creek is an existing water source that is connected to the Chapman Water System and can only be used in times of drought.
- Upgrading the water treatment facility at Gray Creek would:
- Ensure high water quality, should the source be needed, and
- Reduce dependence on Chapman Lake water storage.
What's Next?
In 2022, a two year hydrological study was launched to gather creek flow data, update watershed modelling, and assess of the viability of the source through a climate change lens. Design work will be required for upgrading the Gray Creek water treatment facility.
Estimated completion: 2027
