Project is moved to Connor Park

The results of the community check-in survey are provided to the SCRD Board. The Board vote to move the project to Connor Park and to retain some budget for upgrades to Coopers Green Park. The Board also asks staff to investigate whether or not the current hall at Coopers Green can be retained. 

December 2022

Community check-in on hall location

The SCRD launches a community check-in survey with options to keep the hall at Coopers Green or to move the project to Connor Park.

July 2022

Project at Coopers Green halted

Project is halted due to a new expert report which outlines the potential for sea level rise to impact the building at the proposed location. The report recommends raising the hall an additional 1.5 metres.

May 2022

Re-estimated project cost

Project cost is re-estimated at $4.5 million. SCRD Board approves additional budget to ensure further work could be done on design and technical assessments.

March 2021

Project budget approved

The SCRD Board includes the budget for the hall construction in the financial plan in  at $3.08 million. This allows the SCRD to begin some of the design & technical work involved with the project. 

July 2020

Grant approved - $2 million

The SCRD receives a two-million-dollar grant through the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program (ICIP). This grant is due to expire on March 31, 2025. 

 

December 2018

Construction budget - $3 million

A construction budget of $3 million is presented to the SCRD Board. A grant application is also submitted 

October 2017

Initial engagement - Task Force

From October 2017, through to 2018, a community task force engages with the community. Initial expert reports are supportive of the hall being located at the proposed site.

January 2014

The beginning - Coopers Green Park Management Plan

Coopers Green Park Management Plan is formulated between 2014 and 2016. It presents the replacement of Coopers Green Hall as a key recommendation.
