Share Hello, On behalf of a group of residents in the Square Bay service area, we have a few questions: 1. Can you please provide the timeline and details of the study to address the Square Bay storm water infiltration problem (we note that the SCRD has recd a B.C. gov. grant to cover 2/3 of the $15K cost). If you can also post the project TORs and regular updates on this page it would facilitate communication with the community. 2. Can you pls post updated financial information on this page (note that the link to the 2021/2022 financial information doesn't work, and we would also like to see 2022/2023). 3. Can you pls fix the link to "Click Here for all 2023 User Rates" which doesn't work. These pages are potentially a great way to share timely information with service area residents, which could help to improve communication, confidence and trust. If you could regularly post updated project and financial information, this page would become very helpful. Darlene Tymo asked over 1 year agoHello,
Thank you for the questions. Our new website update caused a few broken links, they should all be working now. Sorry for the inconvenience.
The timeline, details of the study and tender for engineering services will be completed later this year in Q3, 2023. More information will be posted on the project page when it comes available.
Financial information is released annually in our financial report found here: https://www.scrd.ca/budget/. There are links for the plans published since 2018. These are forward looking documents typically and only show the previous year’s actual expenditures.

Share Should we expect the fees for this facility to go up? Is it fair that all property owners pay the same lump-sum fee? Should our wastewater treatment fees be indexed to the amount of water the property uses? (This year more property owners are renting out their properties, which uses significantly more water for cleaning and laundry) on Facebook Share Should we expect the fees for this facility to go up? JohnR asked about 2 years agoHi there,
Thank you for your question. Work to date indicates that current revenues are not sufficient to sustainably fund this Wastewater Service. Currently the SCRD does not use volumetric billing for wastewater or water. This could be explored in the future.
