SCRD Recreation is running a survey to gather feedback on how you prefer to receive ongoing information on recreation programs and services.
Survey is open between April 1 and April 30, 2022.

    Definition: What is Recreation Information?
Recreation information includes facility hours of operation, registration programs, such as swim lessons, yoga and other exercise programs, arts and culture programs, and drop-in activities including group fitness classes, weight room usage, swimming and skating, squash and racquetball. It also includes information about renting recreation facilities, and services for people living on a low income.

    Background
Prior to COVID-19, in support of the Sunshine Coast Regional District (SCRD) Board’s strategic priority of Community Resilience and Climate Change Adaptation, Recreation Services made a conscious decision to decrease the number of printed copies of the seasonal recreation guide and end home delivery of the guide.

Since its onset, the COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted many aspects of people’s recreation and physical well-being routines and behaviors.  With the continued changes in facility closures, restrictions, and requirements, communications needed to be timely and responsive.  Printed material was often dated within days, thus the SCRD needed to rely heavily on social media and the weekly newspaper.

The SCRD recognizes the need for the promotion and marketing of recreation programs and services, and strives to reach our residents and users, while balancing the ongoing need for timely and accurate information as well as environmental considerations.

This survey intends to gather feedback on how residents and users prefer to receive ongoing information on recreation programs and services.

Paper versions of the survey can also be completed at Gibsons & Area Community Centre, Pender Harbour Aquatic & Fitness Centre or Sechelt Aquatic Centre.
