Aquafit is such a popular program in Sechelt. We would love to see it at least 3 days a week…Monday too preferably. Many thanks to the instructors. It has been the best therepy I’ve had for a very difficult surgery.
Blanche asked 5 months agoThank you for your interest in adding additional aquafit classes to the Sechelt pool. Currently we are experiencing a shortage of staff in all aspects from lifeguards to swim instructors and fitness instructors who work at both Sechelt and Gibsons aquatic centres. We are actively recruiting and providing training opportunities here on the coast.
We are doing our best despite these unprecedented times and appreciate your patience as we work through these challenges to balance the service offerings available on the Sunshine Coast.

If we have never done swim lessons before…. Do I just guess the level based on the description? I’m only deciding between level 1 and 2 for my 6 year old. Also are there preschool swim lessons ? Thanks !
Shayla asked over 1 year agoHi there,
You can phone any of the pools operated by the SCRD and ask to speak with an aquatic supervisor - they can help you figure out what level a child should register in. If they are unable to figure it out, they can set up a time to come in for a quick evaluation with a swim instructor to see what level to register in.
And yes - the SCRD has got preschool swim lessons.

I have a 13 year old son who wants to take swimming lessons to eventually get him to his lifeguard. However, we are unsure which level he would be in. He took lessons over 3 years in Ontario. Is there some sort of assessment test to determine which level? He's quite a good swimmer. Thank you.
Vivian asked over 1 year agoThank you for your question.
We can arrange a swim assessment with our aquatic staff for your son to clarify what swim level he should take next. Please call the Gibsons & District Aquatic Facility 604-885-6867 to arrange a date and time.

What is the status regarding vaccine passports? A week ago this website had a paragraph suggesting this may become a condition for use of gym facilities. I have been a regular user but held off renewing my Mypass as I will not ever have this passport.
august vermassen asked over 1 year agoHi there,
We issued a news release yesterday which outlines how the Provincial Health Order will affect recreation users. You can find it here: scrd.ca/files/File/Administration/News/2021-September-14%20-%20Vaccination%20Cards%20%26%20SCRD%20Recreation.pdf
UPDATE: Since our news release was issued on September 14, there have been some changes to the vaccination passport requirements. Please visit www.scrd.ca/recreation-restart for the latest updates.

What is Fitness 13+ years
dalestewart@dccnet.com asked over 1 year agoDrop-in activities have some age restrictions. Fitness 13+ years means that these drop-in classes are for people 13 years old and older.
- Drop-in fitness and aquatic fitness classes are for ages 13+ years.
- Drop-in skating is for all ages.
- Drop-in court usage (squash & racquetball) is for ages 8+ years.
- Drop-in swims are for all ages, but keep in mind that children under the age of 7 years must be within arm's reach of a responsible adult.
- Drop-in weight room usage is for ages 16+ years. Youth that are 13 - 15 years old may use the weight room if they are accompanied by an adult or if they have completed a weight room orientation.
- Drop-in hockey is for ages 13+ years.
Thank you for your question.

Could the rec guide also be in a digital format instead of just printed in the newspaper? Just digitize whatever you put in the newspaper and have it up on the scrd Rec site. Thanks.
