Planning to vote by mail? Read this first!
New for 2022, mail ballot voting will now be available to all eligible electors.
While eligibility to vote by mail has been expanded, it should also be noted there is a quick turnaround time to send out and receive back mail ballots due to the election timeline imposed by legislation
Here are some important dates and points to note about mail ballot voting.
- You can receive a mail ballot by filling out an application form which is available here on the SCRD website.
- If your application is complete and you qualify to vote by mail ballot, the SCRD will send you a mail ballot package or advise you that they are ready to be picked up as soon as the ballots are available. This is generally on or about the 14th day before general voting day (September 30, 2022). The packages will be available for pickup at the SCRD administration building at 1975 Field Road, Sechelt.
- Please note that applications to vote by mail received after September 30, 2022 may not allow sufficient time for mailing and receipt of the ballot. If requesting after this date, we recommend that you arrange to pick up a mail ballot package at the SCRD administration building at 1975 Field Road, Sechelt. The application deadline to request a mail ballot package is October 13, 2022 at 4:30 p.m.
- To be counted, you are responsible for ensuring that your completed mail ballot is received at the SCRD administration building at 1975 Field Road, Sechelt no later than 8:00 pm on General Voting Day, Saturday, October 15, 2022.
